Always a great day to wake up and smell the art theft in the morning. Especially when you find yourself accused of being the thief.

Guys, there is nothing to be gained from stealing art either by tracing, manipulating, or just straight up reuploading and pretending its yours. These things will not help you improve as an artist, moreover it's wrong and frequently pisses a lot of people off so unless you're trying for the sort of notoriety that everyone yelling at you and putting you on long lists of people stealing crap, stop it. Stop it, okay? It sucks, it hurts ALL PARTIES INVOLVED, it's selfish and mean-spirited and is spitting in the face of the artist.

gosh dang it they're AT IT AGAIN!

Hey everybody, remember SOPA and PIPA, and how hard we smashed them down? Well guess what? There's another very similar thing going down right now - only it's a trade agreement, and goes by the acronym of ACTA. And it could be described as SOPA and PIPA's evil big brother... for one, it is international. It's not quite the same, but it feels eerily similar and it could seriously violate privacy and be worldwide.

Here's a news article with some information on it and boy does it sound bad.

Here is a US exclusive petition to the white house, and here are two international petitions for all of you who are not US-based to kill it dead.

Let's get together and purge another scourge of the internet!

Blacking out in protest of SOPA and PIPA

If somehow you haven't heard of SOPA or PIPA yet, go look them up. They are bad news. I'm joining a good bit of the rest of the internet in protest today, Jan 18, and blacking out my journal.

I care about your rights.  SOPA is an infringement upon our rights.  Do you want the government controlling which websites it approves the use of?  Our freedoms for thought and free speech need to be protected for free internet.  In protest, blackout your pages, go silent, spread the word.  Petition sites you care about to do the same.
Who does SOPA effect?
Everyone who uses the internet.  Facebook, Twitter, social networking sites which cannot control the content posted by it's users and will be held responsible for it.  This is forced censorship.  This will not stop piracy.   This will effect law abiding citizens.  It does not protect our rights, it treads on it, spits on it, and throws our rights out the window at 100mph.

As a protest of #SOPA and #PIPA (The Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act) two pieces of legislation that are up for debate once again on January 18, 2012, I will be blacked out from all my websites, deviantART included. What does this mean?
"On January 18, between 8am and 8pm EST (or 13:00 and 01:00 UTC), Reddit will be blacking out their website in protest of SOPA and PROTECT IP. We request all website administrators worldwide - and especially those running large user-content websites - to black out their website at the same time, to voice their opposition of SOPA and PROTECT IP. This legislation may very well not only change the future of the in here. A video with a lot of good information can be found here.

So, having just gotten a premium account by way of winning second place in a contest, I can already tell what will happen. I'll go along and go along and then my month of free paid time will run out and I will want more. This always happens, it is their SYSTEM!

Oh well. Live with what you've got while you've got it, right? I suppose that will have to do.

Livestream! Tutorial... thing....

In half an hour, at 7:30 pacific, I'm going to try something different. A sort of Livestream q&a session to show how I draw and outline things, for anyone who cares to join.

The limit for the channel is 50 viewers (not that I see having any real problems with that, unless waaaaay more people show then I'm expecting) and I'll just be taking requests and drawing things! Partially because I figure some people might find it helpful (I really hope some people might find it helpful), partially because I just want to draw some stuff and can't decide what.
